Edo Govt flays PDP’s comment on AAU infrastructures

BENIN—Edo State Government, faulted the state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Chief Dan Orbih, over his comment that the projects commissioned recently by Governor Adams Oshiomhole at the state- owned Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, were projects initiated by the past PDP-led administration in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Kaseem Afegbua, who described the claims as wicked and irresponsible on the part of the PDP leadership, said that rather than continue to make fruitless efforts to confuse the people of the state, the PDP leaders should hide their faces in shame considering how they ran the state aground for 10 years.
Prince Afegbua, who briefed newsmen at Government House, said, “I expected the PDP to be ashamed of themselves as a party, to cover their heads in shame rather than telling wicked lies. Nothing could be farther than the truth. The fact of the matter is that the PDP government is aware that in terms of development of Edo State, in terms of achievement, they have nothing to write home about.
“The governor has increased AAU's monthly subvention by over 150 per cent. He has also given them infrastructural fund that has been applied very prudently by the management of the university. In the last six to seven years, we have been able to build four different 500 capacity lecture theatres apart from the one that was donated by Pastor Chris Oyiakhilome, which makes it five.”
