FC Ifeanyi Ubah Accident: Nwoye, Obaze shocked, pray for team

Two of the major candidates in the Anambra State governorship election, Dr. Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Mr. Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have commiserated with players, officials and proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah over the accident that befell the team Friday.

Both men in separate statements made available to Saturday Vanguard wished the players and officials that were affected soonest recovery.

The bus conveying the team suffered an accident along the Benin –Sagamu Expressway while going to honour a Week 36 fixture with Sunshine Stars in Ijebu-Ode.

Dr. Nwoye in his statement said:

“The news of the accident involving the bus conveying players and officials of FC Ifeanyi Ubah is a shock to me. The accident is an unfortunate development not just for the football team and their supporters but for everyone of us from Anambra.

“Dr. Ubah has through his resources brought great pride to us through the successes of FC Ifeanyi Ubah and an accident like this is a collective injury on everyone of us.

“It is my prayer that everyone of those injured or in any way affected will receive the fastest recovery from their injuries and it is my prayer that God would sooth the minds of everyone affected.”

Obaze in another statement said:
“I have just been informed that the team bus conveying officials and players of FC IfeanyiUbah to Ijebu Ode to honour the NPFL Matchday 36 fixture with Sunshine Stars got involved in a ghastly auto crash.

“Although saddened that six players got injured in the crash, I am indeed grateful to God that we did not lose any Warrior. I have since spoken to Dr Ifeanyi Ubah to convey my best wishes and prayers to the management, officials, players, fans of FC IfeanyiUbah and the entire football community.”

“I will continue to pray for the quick recuperation of our wounded Warriors. I urge Anambra Warriors, to translate this unfortunate incident to a clarion call to victories and finish the season in high spirits.”
