APC’ll be in control for over 20-yrs – Senator Ibrahim

ABUJA – FORMER Governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim has enthused that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, will continue to dominate the political landscape of the country in the next 20 years.
This is as the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum, NGF, and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has declared that some of the detractors of the APC who had harboured the belief that the party would be torn into shreds during its caucus meeting were disappointed that the meeting ended rancour-free.
The two spoke after the APC Caucus meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, which held under closed-door on Monday night.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the Caucus meeting attended by President Buhari and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the leadership of the National Assembly, Governors and Ministers elected on the platform of the party and party Chieftains from different parts of the country, Senator Ibrahim said that those who had expected that the National Chairman of the party Chief John Odigie-Oyegun would be kicked out were disappointed.
He said, “Some people thought that we had planned to kick out our National Chairman and that we will be having problems, but none of these things happened.
“It is a big party re-union and we are all happy. This party is going to conquer Nigeria political space for a very long time to come. I don’t want to predict any number of years, but anything above 20, there is no need to have any fear at all.”
The National Chairman of the party, Chief Odigie-Oyegun said the calm atmosphere at the caucus meeting was an indication that “The APC is alive, the APC is strong, the APC is going to go places.”
The NGF Chairman and Zamfara State Governor, Yari, said, “This meeting shows our unity in the party, it shows our strength and shows our commitment to the party and to Nigerians.
“Some other people are now waiting to hear a bombshell that we will have some sort of crisis because it has taken time without having this kind of meeting.
“The second one, since the assumption of this administration, but one thing they should understand that when we came in to this administration, we came with huge hope from the people and we met a serious problem in place which we are trying to galvanize to put it to the NEC and work for the people of Nigeria.”
He said that the peaceful atmosphere was the evidence that the party was ready to serve Nigerians.
So our meeting today and what is going to happen tomorrow that shows that we are ready to serve the country.
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State said that “The take away in this particular caucus meeting is unity of our party, strength of our party, leadership of our party under the wisdom and fatherly role of our President Muhammadu Buhari and under the able leadership of His Excellency Chief John Odigie-Oyegun APC is strong, APC is the party today and APC is delivering on her mandate.”
