Today, Google announced that it would make free wifi hotspots available to residents of Nigeria before the end of next year.

According to Google’s Product management VP, Anjali Joshi, this is Google’s way of making internet freely accessible to people in Nigeria.

Joshi revealed this today Thursday the 26th of July 2018 at Google for Nigeria 2018 conference which held in Lagos.

The technology firm said it planned to share revenues with its partners  to help them maintain and deploy the Wi-Fi service.

She stated that Nigeria is the fifth country to get Google Station, after India, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico.

Joshi disclosed that Google would generate cash from the service in Nigeria by placing Google adverts in the login portal.

Vice President Osinbajo welcomed the idea with open mind.
